Neil Diamond is one of the best-selling and most iconic singer/songwriters in rock and pop music history.

Besides being one of the biggest selling and record-breaking touring artists ever, he’s also created and performed the songs of a generation — including some of the most famous songs on the planet.

In the beginning of 2018, shortly before his 77th birthday, Neil Diamond stepped away from live performances after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.

However, Diamond’s on-stage legacy continues to be kept alive for audiences throughout the world through Las Vegas entertainer Rob Garrett, known as America’s premier Neil Diamond tribute performer.

Like his idol, Rob Garrett was a Brooklyn, New York native.

In May 1974, his parents relocated from New York City to Las Vegas, where, in 1976, he witnessed his first live Neil Diamond show when Diamond debuted in Las Vegas to record crowds at the Aladdin Hotel’s “Theater for the Performing Arts” in July 1976.

Garrett went on to see him 16 more times across the country—right up until Diamond’s last American show at the Los Angeles Forum on August 12, 2017.

In 1980, Garrett formed his own band, “Rock n Roll Heaven,” and enjoyed a decade-and-a-half career in Las Vegas and across the nation before transitioning from cover band frontman to a tribute artist dedicated to one of his childhood heroes.

Garrett has also received multiple accolades, including “Male Tribute Artist of the Year.”

“Since he (Diamond) announced his retirement, I’ve felt a strong sense of responsibility to keep his legacy alive for future generations. It’s something I never get tired of doing,” he said.

On May 19, Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman officially proclaimed the date “Rob Garrett Day,” commemorating Rob’s 50 years as a Las Vegas resident and 44 years as a professional Vegas performer.

Now in 2025, Garrett celebrates 45 years as an active Las Vegas entertainer, with the last 30 years devoted solely to paying tribute to the now-retired Neil Diamond.

It has been said that no other tribute artist is so closely identified with the original performer as Garrett, who has performed his show at more Las Vegas venues than any other tribute artist.

Since the June closing of “A Beautiful Noise” (the Broadway jukebox musical based on Diamond’s life story), Rob Garrett’s “King of Diamonds” show has become the only continuous Neil Diamond tribute in the U.S..
